Puffer Coats, Puffer Coats, Pass

Ah, the puffer coat. We fell in love with long, fur-lined puffers last season. A puffer coat is the humid weather girl’s savior. They are harder to find than you would think!  Take a gander at this Rachel Rachel Roy Faux Fur Puffer Jacket in Gunmetal (PS. There are only 2 left).  Stay warm and dry all season long with style with wide batting stitches and calf-grazing mid-lengths.

Breakfast at Tiffany

Did you know? You can now officially have breakfast at Tiffany. A colorful trench in modern fur fabrics is wonderful for formal affairs. We like Madewell’s Bouclé Double-Breasted Coat in Haystack. The bright mustard color in Italian wool will last you for years. Modern trenches are coming in less structured and focus on details such as sleeve cuffs and buttons instead of waist ties. Find a color that is versatile with your wardrobe and you will be surprised at how much use it gets.

Teddy Bear Fur

Got to grab one item before you end up on the desert island?  For self-professed “hot messes”, teddy fur coats are always on standby.  See how you feel about cozying up to this Teddy Fur Coat from Planet Blue. The relaxed fit and side pockets are the perfect snuggie partners for after parties and walks of shame.  Another popular teddy is Tularosa’s Violet Long Shag.  It’s the perfect mid-length for one of those slip dresses we were talking about.  A shag coat is a nice way to rock 70s style, too.

Princess and the Pea

Long, embroidered shells are the right way to roll to work. Long, decorative duster coats add a bit of formality for girls who need Girl Boss-like presence.  Shoulders and sleeves should be fitted and fabric should be beyond luxurious.  House of Harlow 1960 has the perfect leather coat with faux fur lining.  For a full-length coat, the price is surprisingly low!

Color Block Beauties

Here’s how the British are doing it. Full-length coats with color-blocked collars and cuffs are London Town’s nod to mod. Lightweight furs, such as sherpa and matted faux fur make these perfect for Fall and layering in Winter.  Free People has a fantastic Color Blocked Jacket with a stretchy knit and cinched sleeves.  We love the bright pink collar and blue pocket details.  Such a great way to upgrade skinny jeans.

Papa Bear

Somebody has eaten all of my porridge!! Bustle around town in big, fuzzy, fur coats and make your presence known.  A full-length faux fur coat is best done in vintage.  Our favorite finds on Etsy include a Vintage 70s Elegant Faux Mink Fur and a Vintage Yves Saint Laurent Faux Mink Fur. Both are full-length and in gorgeous shape. You’re welcome!

The Long + Short of It

Hate to say bombers had their run, but that seems to be the case this year. If you’re shopping for coats, find one as long as you can manage comfortably. Maxi coats keep your legs warm and should be your incentive to get off the couch! There is so much to see and do during the holiday season, make sure you catch it all without freezing to death.
