There are millions of vintage scarves out there – I inherited a couple from my grandmother and I love them! A neck scarf is a great way to accent a strapless and far less boring than a long necklace dangling down your front. Take a look at some of our best finds and your neck might fall in love with silk this season.
Time to watch “Don’t Bother to Knock”, starring Marilyn Monroe and Anne Bancroft. Old classics serve as great inspiration for the fads of the moment. First glance and I was already dying over Bancroft’s western accessories, not to mention the scarf pinned around her neck. Start scouring vintage stores in your area – I think that’s going to be your best bet to find a true beauty like the one Bancroft wore. While you’re there, find a vintage pin to keep it in place.
BFF Scarves
There was a great photo shoot in June’s Glamour of two BFF models romping around Tennessee in my dream wardrobe. They’re calling it “modern country” and I love their creative combo of festival maxis + country accessories. A little bit country / a little bit rock n’ roll calls for the neck scarf to seal the deal!
Neck Scarf in Lieu of Necklace
Put your necklaces on standby for a while and let your scarves have a little action. They are so much more rewarding. You can update a plain tee or sweater by wrapping a scarf twice to leave a little tie in front. It’s a great way to add a little color and show off the trim. This is an upgraded version of the bandana looks we showed you for summer. Hopefully they are all starting to grow on you..
Have Scarf, Will Festival
When it’s still just a little chilly outside, a long neck scarf gives that extra bit of welcome warmth. At CRSSD Festival (San Diego) a few months ago, I grabbed a long black scarf as I went out the door since we had a rain forecast for the day. What a good idea I had! Adding a neck scarf made a surprising warmth contribution throughout the day. Pulling the knot around to the back of my neck gave it more of a choker look, which worked perfect. It was still warm but out of my way while I was walking and dancing around all day. Warm, cozy, dancy – you really can’t go wrong.
Best Neck Scarves on the Market
If you’re loving the look, Free People has a cool selection of scarves and bandanas. I have been on the lookout and they have the best ones I’ve seen so far. =I love the way these frame faces. The scarf is the hot accessory and the easiest way to add a little punch to your look. We dig silk scarves the best, just because your neck is a tender little area. Hide those hickeys the hip way and no one will be the wiser. If you don’t have one, get one!
