If you’ve got roots that you’re trying to push another week, ditch the baseball cap for something sassier! A head scarf is also the perfect alternative to 40 minutes of hair dryer time. A headband or turban in silk is an easy Bohemian look that dresses up your style. Here are 5 easy ways to use a scarf so you can pretty up your lazy hair effortlessly.
1. Closed Turban
Time to start booking those tropical vacations! Spring is around the corner and getting a head start on Summer is always in season. Remember to pack a head scarf for those humid tropical climates. Leave your hair spray at home and opt for a turban instead. Turbans are perfect for sultry nights where your neck and shoulders should be the main attraction. Need some help? The Huffington Post has a quick tutorial on how to properly wrap and tie. Don’t over think it!
2. Open Turban
Another variation on the turban is to leave the top open. Tie your hair into a messy up do and then use a head scarf to finish the look. This gives a more polished appearance to hair that might otherwise look out of control. Check out that same Huffington Post tutorial for the open turban style as well.

3. Rock-a-Billy
If you’ve got bangs that need showing and you’re in a hurry, go for the old 50’s up do. Wrap a smaller head scarf folded in half diagonally with the three corners tied at the top. This look is really balanced with a firm set of eyebrows and a painted lip. Make sure your makeup is precise so you don’t look like you just finished cleaning house!
4. Garden Variety
For girls with longer hair looking to add interest, grab a scarf with a beautiful floral print. Super practical, a head scarf can pretty up your look and keeps your hair out of your face. This is a perfect look for anyone heading to the backyard or the beach. If you have a favorite brand that is a little out of your price range, splurging on something small like a scarf can give ultimate satisfaction. Sometimes you’ve just got to start small and treat yourself how you can. You can wear this look long, or wrap it around short like a headband.
5. Wrap One in a Braid
Wrap a long skinny scarf around a ponytail or braid to add some color. A head scarf wrapped through a braid is an easy way to add instant Bohemian charm. Keep your hair kind of loose and let a few strands free to complete the look. Use the end of the scarf to tie off the bottom.

Silk Scarves are Keepsakes
When my grand mother passed away, I was fortunate to inherit a few of her silk scarves. I love the vintage prints and am taking care of them so I can pass them along myself. Be sure to dry clean silk scarves and store them properly. They are truly a treasure and should be treated as such. For working outdoors or beach use, check your local vintage shops. There are plenty of great finds from other sweet grannies who have passed along. What a nice accessory that can last the test of time!
I cant even leave the house it seems without one it seems. Been rocking the confidence wrap for 45 years, even my baby daughters wore them when! Thankyou for some nee do’s. More scarves, they’re useful as window decor, hanging from gazebo’s too!
