Have a great view but not wanting to be on display? For anyone living in glass houses, partitions are the perfect protection. They allow the benefits of nature and sunlight to enter your home without compromising your privacy. Use a room divider with an open lattice on one portion of the window. This breaks up the look nicely so you don’t end up feeling like you live in a jail cell. This can be a nice geometric equivalent of painting one wall.

Working from home? Use room dividers to designate a work space. Establish a rule that when you are in that space, you are at work and are not to be interrupted. This alleviates distractions and creates a clear boundary for others at home.

A quick and easy way to create a custom wall is to use besa block bricks. Breeze blocks are decorative concrete blocks and are also known as architectural screen blocks. Generally less than a foot wide, breeze blocks are very easy to deal with.
Where to Find
I think breeze blocks look especially nice painted white, but you can really get a fun look with any color. Mid-century modern styles aren’t readily available at your local hardware store. Check out Modern Design for an active list of mid-century modern block manufacturers. Be sure to check if they require a minimum order – most companies require at least one pallet which is around 100 pieces.
Create an Entryway
The nice thing about breeze blocks is that your not stuck with a square wall. Using partitions and breeze blocks are a nice way to create an entryway in your home. You can get creative with shapes and sizes and they can mold around other items in your decor. Creating a subtle division of rooms give your home that little something extra.
Easy DIY
If concrete is not going to be your thing, consider using wood instead. A wood trellis works just as well inside and outside. Just paint it white and support it from the ceiling! Lara from A Beautiful Mess did an amazing job sectioning off her carport. You can easily use the same concept indoors by giving the trellis a stand. The sky’s the limit!
Partition Me, Please
Now that you’ve got the general idea, take a look around your home and see if there’s a little spot you’d like to section off. A room divider can work to create a little reading nook or can hide something not super pretty. If you use an interesting design, you can really transform a space.
