Just say no to stacks of magazines! Give your mental space room to breathe by getting organized. It’s good Feng Shui! If you’ve got periodicals and holiday catalogs piling up, keep them tidy with chic magazine racks!  They are a great way to add a little mid-century modern to your decor.

Best Magazine Racks: Arthur Umanoff

Since we’re pro-vintage, we prefer to support the artistic souls who first designed the looks in the 50’s and 60’s. For example, Arthur Umanoff is kind of the go-to source for these gorgeous wood racks. Umanoff was a partner at Post Modern, Ltd. in the 1950’s. He worked each item of furniture from the drawing board through his shop. His work stands above the rest because every piece was manufactured to be exquisite and practical.

The Wire-Frame Option

If you prefer something a little more delicate, go for a wire or cast-iron version. Wire magazine racks are a little better for pairing with end tables you already have. They also do a great job a filling in a little blank space on the floor. I love chilling on the sofa with reading material within arms reach.  It’s a nice touch when you’ve got company over, as well.

Think About Your Office Space!

Unfortunately, it’s almost impossible to be paper-free in the office. Magazine racks are an elegant way to stay organized in small spaces. You can create a sort-of inbox/ outbox situation, or just keep inspiration magazines handy. In addition, they add a little Mad-Men-esque character to your space.  Win!

Music Alert! Here’s an upbeat little number for you to put on the hi-fi. It’s got some pretty piano tones and speaks to my obsessive nature.

Free Up Your Coffee Table

I’ve tried many times to fan out magazines on my coffee table. Due to my minimalist nature, I just can’t live with it! I’ve also tried to neatly stack coffee table books and those never stay either. Both just look best on a book shelf or in magazine racks. Consequently, if you want to keep going down the Feng Shui path, think of the fact that most coffee tables are set in the center of a room. This is the health center and thrives on being free and clear.
