Kervin Brisseaux Presents: Acid Fashion

Anyone got a thing for paper dolls?  Curators of collage?  Take a look at our latest artist, Kervin Brisseaux.  His pop fashion collages are so much fun and get your creative juices flowing!  Digital illustration is one of our favorite mediums and when you add fashion into the mix, you get our attention.

One of our most popular articles here explores double exposure design and the layering effects of photography.  Kervin Brisseaux is a big Photoshop/Illustrator user and is another great example of just how creative you can get with both tools.  Kevin “grew up” in the Depthcore community, a community that focuses on digital art.  He draws his inspiration from Japanese culture and is inspired by retro-futuristic illustrators.

Acid Fashion

An ongoing, self-motivated project, Brisseaux augments fashion photography with his own illustrations. This is similar to our other favorite fashion magazine illustrators. Instead of doodling however, Kervin Brisseaux adds the fashion himself. He uses bright, hip hop styles and animations to otherwise stoic fashion photography.

Pay Your Dues

In an interview with Talking With the Pros, he gives an idea of his learning process. Art involves a lot of work and Kervin Brisseaux is not an exception to the rule as an artist. He admits he royally sucked at Photoshop in the beginning. Overcoming laziness and delving into the techniques of the tool were what made him finally improve.

Keep Your Style

One of our favorite things about Kervin’s art, is his unique approach to fashion. We fell in love with old school hip-hop fashion from the 90s. Neon + Black + White

One of the reasons his art really pops, is his use of black and white photos.  The juxtaposition of bright neon allows Kervin Brisseaux to do a little compare and contrast action.  The models he chooses are generally pretty all-American, with strong features.  They pull off the tomboy looks he gives them perfectly.

Technique + Passion

One of his greatest strengths is his color combinations.  Technique is very important to Brisseaux and he likens his color arsenal to that of Bob Ross.  He expresses the importance of understanding how to use color.  He just recently earned his Masters in Architechture and does most of his hand sketching in that capacity.  His digital works are labors of love and that is some of the most fun art to take in.
