Virgo: August 23 – September 22

A stickler for details, they tend to be a bit of a perfectionist.  If your motto is, “that’s good enough”; you probably aren’t a Virgo.  Better to iron out the kinks and put something of value into the world. Naturally loving, Virgos also tend to care for small, domestic pets or gardens in a country home environment. Natural materials, such as terra-cotta pots, or wooden furniture are also preferred by this earth sign.  Take a look at our article on the Feng Shui earth element for more ideas.  Paint rooms in cooler color palettes and use minimal decor in whites, greys, and neutrals.

Collections

Natural collectors, it takes a lot of effort for them to throw anything away.  A Virgo may have piles books or unfinished projects laying around the house, but it is always spic and span.  If you’re buying a gift for this intellectual sign, consider one or two of our favorite John Steinbeck novels.  He has a picturesque way of describing landscapes and his characters suit a Virgo’s down-to-earth human nature.  Also, the hygge lifestyle and cozy decor vibe is a big hit for this easy-going guy or gal.

Modesty is In!

Leave the flashy stuff for someone else.  Well-known for their conscientiousness, Virgos are reserved, modest, and practical.  Quality home decor that has an understated elegance is perfect for their home.  Furniture should be modern, but comfortable and always welcoming of guests.  Natural decorators, their homes are always undergoing some form of restoration.  It’s always fun to see the latest changes!

Only The Best

When picking out home decor items, or buying gifts, pick the quality choice.  A Virgo is known to have discriminating taste, so craftsmanship is highly rated.  They are very detail-oriented and can appreciate a peaceful, serene environment.  Our meditation space ideas or spa-like bathroom touches, like hand-picked wallpaper or handset tile are what makes a Virgo’s home their castle!

Quality Over Quantity

It;s better to find items that boast quality (and they don’t necessarily need to be expensive).  Virgo rules the kitchen, so this space is probably the heart of their haven.  They are natural cooks and love a new recipe every now and again.  Naturally health-conscious, they choose quality products and simple recipes that don’t require a lot of fuss.  Kitchens and dining rooms are central points in their homes and will be the central gathering space whenever company arrives.

Selective Hostess

Generally, only friends and family are invited over for special occasions or easy lunches.  A Virgo is a natural host, but they prefer to entertain people they have close relationships with over business acquaintances (or the like).  Their modest personalities shine most in small gatherings and they prefer to serve tasteful spreads over 3-course meals.  Take a look at our favorite avocado toast recipes for ways to dress up a lunch, or chia seed pudding recipes to serve anyone stopping by.  They are healthy and fuss-free, so you can focus on the more important things, like your company!

Less is More

Steer clear of heavy antiques, or maximalism in any form.  A Virgo will generally appreciate a more understated elegance and clean lines.  When buying gifts for this discerning sign, peruse high-end boutiques with modern items made by local craftsmen.  Smooth ceramics, quality wood grains, and a hint of country charm are generally big hits.  They are also naturally good gift-givers themselves and will always surprise you with their excellent taste.  Just remember, if it isn’t practical, or doesn’t serve a purpose, it’s best left for someone else!
